Description:

This is a classic mid-century portable travel bar set housed in a black vinyl-covered case by Readbilt USA, featuring a gray suede-like interior lining. The set includes eight knurled chrome/stainless steel collapsible or stackable shot cups marked 'Japan,' each featuring a distinctive diamond-knurl grip band around the middle for secure handling — a hallmark design of 1950s-1960s travel barware. Accompanying the cups are two bar tools with marbled brown and cream Bakelite or lucite handles: a cocktail stirring spoon and a combination bottle opener/can piercer, the latter engraved with what appears to be a promotional advertising message referencing Chicago and 'Lucky.' The lower compartment of the hinged case retains its original divider and leather strap organizer, designed to hold flasks or bottles (not present). The Readbilt label on the interior reads 'Vinyl Coated Material Cover & Lining,' confirming American manufacture of the case with Japanese-made barware components, a common mid-century import arrangement. Condition is rated Good overall: the chrome cups show light tarnish, surface oxidation spots, and minor scratches consistent with age and use; the Bakelite handles are intact with no chips or cracks; the case exterior shows scuffing and edge wear; the interior lining has notable staining (ring marks and liquid residue stains) to the tray liner; the lower compartment lining shows general soiling and the divider stitching is partially separated. The case latch and hinges appear functional. A charming and complete mid-century entertaining collectible ideal for the barware or Mad Men-era collector.
