Description:

This is a genuine US Military M2 ammunition box marked 'AMM BOX CAL .50 M2' in embossed lettering on the front face, a classic olive drab steel field container used extensively from World War II through the Vietnam era and beyond. The box features the characteristic hinged lid with wire bail carry handle, stamped steel latch mechanism with ring pull, and reinforced corner construction typical of military-issue ammunition storage. Measuring approximately 12 inches long by 6 inches wide by 7 inches tall, this heavy-gauge steel can was designed to provide weather-resistant, stackable storage in the field. The interior has been repurposed as a vintage first aid and survival kit and contains a fascinating lot of period items including a vintage Curad Flesh Medicated bandage tin with Telfa Pad advertising, a Band-Aid Brand Sheer Strips tin, a Gladstone Playing Card Company deck of cards (New York), elastic bandage rolls, paracord, and various other vintage medical and utility supplies. The contents appear to date primarily from the 1950s-1960s era, making this a remarkable time capsule of mid-century Americana. Condition is Fair to Good for the ammo can itself, showing heavy honest wear including significant surface rust and paint loss along the lid edges and top, scratches and dents throughout the body, a worn canvas strap on the lid handle, and a functioning but stiff latch; the interior contents range from Fair to Good with expected aging, label wear, and patina consistent with decades of storage.
