Description:

A quintessential 1970s home game room set featuring a handsome octagonal poker table with four matching captain's armchairs, the complete package for serious card players and retro entertaining enthusiasts. The octagonal table is constructed of walnut-toned hardwood with a dark brown padded leatherette playing surface, estimated at approximately 48 inches across, and features eight individual player drawers around the apron — each fitted with a decorative brass rosette pull — providing convenient chip and card storage for every seat. The substantial pedestal base is octagonal in form with inlaid panel detailing and a central brass medallion accent, resting on a wide platform base with a cross-foot stretcher, giving the piece a formal yet functional presence. The four matching captain's armchairs feature classic Windsor-style turned spindle backs, curved bow arms, solid wood saddle seats, and turned legs with stretchers, all finished in a warm walnut stain consistent with the table. This style of dedicated home poker table with built-in player drawers was extremely popular during the 1970s American rec room and basement entertainment boom, and complete sets with matching chairs are increasingly sought after by collectors and game room enthusiasts. The hanging lamp with playing card suit motif visible in photos is not included in this lot. Condition is rated Good overall: the leatherette playing surface shows significant wear including scratches, scuffs, and surface crazing consistent with decades of use; the wood base and apron retain good structural integrity with minor surface scratches; the chairs show honest wear to the seat surfaces and some light scratching to the legs, but all joints appear solid and functional. A charming and complete vintage game room set ready for its next poker night.
