This is a large and impressive Black Forest German hunter-style cuckoo clock featuring exceptional hand-carved linden wood craftsmanship consistent with mid-20th century German production, likely originating from the Schwarzwald (Black Forest) region of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The case is elaborately adorned with deeply carved oak leaves, acorns, crossed rifles, a game bag, and highly detailed wildlife figures including a pheasant on the left and a deer/chamois on the right flanking the clock face — hallmark motifs of the classic 'Jäger' (hunter) style. Crowning the piece is a beautifully carved stag head with separately applied real or carved antlers mounted on a shield plaque, surrounded by sweeping oak leaf sprays, giving the clock a commanding presence estimated at approximately 24-28 inches tall including antlers and 18-20 inches wide. The black dial features gold Roman numerals with ornate brass-finished hands and a turned wood center boss, all framed by the carved surround. The clock operates on a weight-driven chain movement with two cast iron pinecone-shaped weights and a pendulum, consistent with an 8-day or 1-day mechanical movement typical of quality Black Forest production. Condition is assessed as Good to Very Good overall — the carving retains excellent detail throughout with rich dark walnut-toned finish showing honest age patina; minor surface dust and light wear to high-relief areas is noted, and the antlers appear intact. Functionality of the movement and cuckoo mechanism is unknown and cannot be confirmed from photos — buyer should anticipate potential servicing. A striking decorative and collectible timepiece with strong appeal to Colorado mountain home, lodge, and cabin décor enthusiasts.
