Description:
This charming full-length cheval mirror features a sage green painted wood frame with elegant gold gilt accents, presenting a classic Victorian-inspired or French Country aesthetic that was popular in American furniture production from the 1950s through the 1970s. The frame is constructed of solid wood with beautifully turned spindle-style support posts topped with decorative ball finials, each accented with a gold-painted ring collar at the base of the finial — a hallmark of quality period furniture craftsmanship. The arched bonnet top is adorned with a hand-painted or applied gold starburst/compass rose medallion at its crown, adding a decorative focal point consistent with Hollywood Regency and French Provincial styling popular in mid-century American bedroom suites. The mirror pivots on a central axis between the two turned support posts, allowing the angle to be adjusted to the user's preference, and rests on a sturdy splayed platform base with carved feet. Estimated dimensions are approximately 58-62 inches tall overall and 22-24 inches wide, making it a true full-length dressing mirror. The close-up detail photograph reveals the distressed sage green paint finish with intentional or aged wear exposing the wood grain beneath, along with gold gilt highlighting on the turned rings of the posts — consistent with a chalky paint or milk paint application over an earlier finish. Condition is rated Good to Very Good: the frame shows honest wear including paint loss and scuffing at high-contact areas along the posts and base, the gold gilt accents show rubbing and partial loss consistent with age and use, and the mirror glass appears clear and intact with no visible foxing or delamination noted in the photographs. The pivot mechanism appears functional and the base is structurally sound with no visible breaks or repairs. A versatile and decorative piece well-suited to Colorado mountain home, farmhouse, or cottage interiors.
