Description:

An exceptional collection of approximately 15 antique cast iron, copper, and aluminum primitive tools and cookware spanning the late 1800s through early 1900s, ideal for the Colorado farmhouse collector or Western Americana enthusiast. The lot includes three cast iron cauldrons/bean pots in graduated sizes (approximately 6", 8", and 10" diameter) with swing bail handles, showing the classic three-footed design consistent with pre-1920s foundry production used extensively in frontier and homestead cooking throughout the American West. A cast iron sad iron with heavily rusted coiled wire handle represents the pre-electric laundry era, a staple of pioneer households. Additional pieces include a cast iron trivet/pot stand with decorative cutwork design, a small cast iron inkwell or glue pot on ornate footed base, a copper oil can with spout in warm patinated copper, a cast iron bullet/ball mold with long handle and brass-toned pan, a cast iron ring bolt or harness hardware piece, a large clamp-mount cast iron meat grinder with wooden handle and table-clamp mechanism, a smaller aluminum tabletop meat grinder, a cast iron toothed implement (possibly a corn sheller or textile tool), and a small miniature copper or brass pitcher. Maker's marks are not clearly legible in photos but construction methods, sand-cast surfaces, and gate marks are consistent with late 19th to early 20th century American foundry work. Condition is overall Fair to Good for the age — all pieces display heavy surface rust, oxidation, and patina consistent with 100+ years of use and storage; the cauldrons show interior rust and pitting but retain structural integrity with no visible cracks; the sad iron handle wrap is heavily corroded; the meat grinder clamp mechanism appears functional; the copper oil can retains good form with natural verdigris patina. This lot presents an outstanding restoration or display opportunity and would be highly sought after at Colorado antique shows, primitive Americana collectors, and cast iron enthusiasts.
