Description:

An exceptional vintage professional recording studio lot comprising four major components: a TEAC Tascam 80-8 eight-track reel-to-reel tape recorder, a Samson MPL1204 12-channel rack-mount mic mixer, an NEC CD-840 compact disc player, and a Sharp RT-380 stereo cassette deck with auto-reverse and metal tape capability. The centerpiece TEAC Tascam 80-8 is a highly sought-after professional 8-track 1/2-inch reel-to-reel multitrack recorder from the late 1970s-early 1980s, housed in its original warm-toned oak wood cabinet with black leatherette trim and featuring eight individual VU meters, individual channel record level controls, function select switches, and transport controls including the distinctive blue RECORD and PAUSE buttons; two Ampex Grand Master 456 10.5-inch reels are loaded and included. The Samson MPL1204 rack-mount mixer features 12 input channels each with trim, high/mid/low EQ, and aux sends, stereo aux returns, phantom power, and comes with its original owner's manual — the unit is mounted in a Technics Professional Series by Panasonic rack enclosure with patch bays also visible in the rack. The NEC CD-840 is an early-generation CD player with dual D/A converter system, linear skate disc loading, and selected program graphic display, while the Sharp RT-380 cassette deck offers Dolby B/C noise reduction, APSS auto program search, and metal tape compatibility. Condition is overall Good to Very Good for a working studio setup; the TEAC 80-8 shows honest wear including light scuffs to the wood cabinet corners, the transport and meters appear intact and functional, knobs and switches are all present; the Samson mixer shows label tape on channel strips from studio use with all knobs present and faders intact; the NEC and Sharp units show typical rack wear with surface scuffs but appear complete and functional. This is an outstanding opportunity for Colorado recording enthusiasts, home studio builders, analog audio collectors, or musicians seeking a complete vintage analog recording chain — rarely does a cohesive studio lot of this caliber come to auction.
