This is an original Series 1890 $1 Treasury Note featuring Edwin M. Stanton, U.S. Secretary of War under Abraham Lincoln. Known among collectors as the “Stanton Note”, this large-size U.S. currency is notable for its ornate design, red seal, and red serial numbers with a star at the end (A5976415★). The reverse features the bold large “ONE” design printed in green by the Bureau of Engraving & Printing.
Signatures of Rosecrans (Register) and Nebeker (Treasurer) — typical for the Red Seal 1890 Stanton notes.
