FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a Buyer's Premium The buyer's is an additional percentage added to the hammer price at an auction and is standard industry practice.  It is typically a fee for the expenses behind creating an running an online auction.  Auction Software is sophisticated and costly to maintain.  Each seller on this platform sets their own Buyer's Premium which is stated in each individual auction.

WHY DO YOU REQUIRE A CREDIT CARD IN ORDER FOR ME TO BID To maintain the integrity of our online bidding process, our platform only accepts bids from people whose credit cards are valid, registered and vetted by our credit card processing platform (Stripe).  This also allows you to be confident you are not in a bidding match with an insincere bidder who is driving up the price yet never intends to pay.   Rest assured we have no access to your credit card information, that is managed by Stripe, they give us zero access to your CC number or personal info.

CAN I HAVE MY ITEMS SHIPPED?  In most cases, yes.  Check with each individual seller for their rules and costs (which can vary from auction to auction)

HOW DO I BID?  Once registered, you will see a red box that says "place Maximum Bid" where you can bid place your bid.  You can enter the next increment up, that amount will be shown, or you can place your maximum bid (the most you are willing to pay for the item) and start the automatic bidding process which is explained below.   Most lots start at $5 with no hidden reserves.

WHAT IS AUTOMATIC BIDDING (Proxy Bids)?
You can stay ahead of the competition for an item/s without needing to be online by letting Denver Online Auctions bid in increments on your behalf to keep you in the lead but only up to your limit.

  • To start, enter a secret maximum bid amount for each item they are interested in.
  • The auction platform will automatically place bids for you by entering your maximum bid amount whenever you are outbid.
  • The system bids the minimum amount necessary to keep you in the top-bidder position, but only until your maximum proxy bid is reached.
  • We’ll let you know if someone outbids you and you can decide if you want to increase your maximum limit.

Bidding is a contractual obligation. When deciding your maximum bid, be sure you’re happy to pay that amount if you win the auction.
NOTE:  You have the ability to change your MAX bid at any time.

Why was I immediately outbid?

If you are outbid immediately after placing a bid, it’s likely that another bidder is using automatic bidding and has a maximum limit higher than yours. You’ll need to increase your maximum limit in order to be the highest bidder.

WHAT ARE THE BIDDING INCREMENTS? Here is our bidding increments schedule.

IS THIS A "HARD" CLOSE OR "SOFT" CLOSE AUCTION?  This is a "Hard Close" auction.  No time is added after the clock counts down to zero. It ends at the exact time stated.  The lots do not all close at the same time, there are 30 second increments between lots closing.  An auction with hundreds of lots will span a few hours before the last one closes.

HOW DO I KEEP TRACK OF ALL THE ITEMS I AM WATCHING AND BIDDING ON?  Under the "MY ACCOUNT" tab at the top of the page, you can create a "watch list" where only the items you are watching are all in one place.  Each listing has an "Add to my watchlist" button.

CAN I PREVIEW THE ITEMS BEFORE I BID?  If you are close to the pick-up location and would like to preview an item, please contact the seller to set up a time.

HOW DO I PAY? After the Auction has closed, you will receive an "auction win" notice in your email inbox (check spam). You can also look in the "My Account" tab for an invoice.  You can pay the invoice online with a credit card or pay cash / Credit Card upon pick-up  All items must be paid in full before removing from property.

IF I WIN AN AUCTION WHEN & WHERE DO I PICK UP THE ITEMS? Pick-Up dates and times will be posted in the item description. It is your responsibility for removal of all items at the posted location on the posted dates. If you can't pick up on those dates, contact the Seller prior to bidding to see if other arrangements are available. ITEMS MUST BE PAID FOR IN ORDER FOR US TO HOLD THEM. The pickup address will also be on your invoice.  If you are sending someone to pick up your item, please let us know ahead of time.

What if I am unable to make it on the designated Pick-up days:  All items or lots will be considered abandoned if not picked up on designated pick-up days and we have not heard from you.  If you cannot make it for some reason, please contact the seller ASAP to schedule an alternate date.  If you do need us to hold it for you after the designated pick-up days, please pay your invoice online.  We cannot hold items that have not been paid for.

WHAT IF I FORGET MY PASSWORD OR USERNAME?  Go to the login page and use the "I forgot password" option, you should receive a password reset email.  Still having problems?  Email [email protected]   We answer quickly and can resolve issues quickly.

WHAT IF I BID AND WIN BUT DONT PAY? Bidding constitutes a legally binding agreement to purchase an item. Most auctions here are a family's estate, we have a finite amount of time to sell the items.  If you do not pay, we cannot simply re-list the item.  You have prevented us from selling it, and we need to pay to have the item removed from the home.  If we do not hear from you, we will assume you have decided to abandon the item/items.  Your credit card on file will be charged for the invoice amount.  If you choose to block us from charging your card in any way, you will be permanently removed as a registered user on this website and a small claims case may be opened.
