This is an original Series 1890 $1 Treasury Note, also known as the “Stanton” note for its portrait of Edwin M. Stanton, Secretary of War under President Lincoln. The note features a star at the end of the serial (A2838978★). The reverse has the large “ONE” design in green ink, printed by the Bureau of Engraving & Printing. This example shows clear historical detail despite heavy circulation wear, creases, and edge wear consistent with its age. A rare piece of U.S. currency history.
signatures of Rosecrans (Register of the Treasury) and Huston (Treasurer) — typical for Brown Seal 1890 Stanton notes.
