This estate auction lot features a collector-assembled group of Franklin Half Dollars, spanning 1957 through 1963, all Denver Mint (D) issues. Franklin half dollars are struck in 90% silver and are widely collected for both their silver content and classic mid-20th-century U.S. design.
Each coin in this group is collector-noted as FBL (Full Bell Lines)—a designation referring to the uninterrupted horizontal lines at the bottom of the Liberty Bell on the reverse. Strong bell lines indicate a sharper strike, a key attribute actively sought by Franklin half dollar collectors, as many coins from this series were weakly struck.
