Description:

World War II Japanese Occupation Currency – Group of Mixed Denominations

A historically significant group of Japanese Occupation paper money, commonly known as “Invasion Money,” issued during World War II for use in territories occupied by Imperial Japan in the Pacific and Southeast Asia.

Territories represented include:

  • Philippines

  • Malaya (modern-day Malaysia & Singapore)

These notes were printed under Japanese authority and denominated in Dollars or Cents to replace pre-war local currencies. They were widely circulated during the occupation years and became worthless after liberation, making surviving examples tangible artifacts of wartime economic control.

Group Details

  • Mixed denominations including cents and dollars

  • English-language designs with overprinted occupation authority

  • Issued circa 1942–1945

  • All notes are historical circulating issues, not reproductions

Condition

  • Circulated with expected wartime wear

  • No attempt made to clean or restore

  • Sold as a group, exactly as pictured

Collector Notes

Japanese Occupation currency is actively collected for its WWII significance, distinctive designs, and connection to the Pacific Theater. Individual notes are common, but group lots with mixed denominations and regions are consistently desirable for collectors, educators, and military history enthusiasts.
