Group of vintage paper currency from China and Hong Kong, spanning the World War II era through the 1960s, representing a mix of government-issued and private bank notes from a period of major political and economic change in Asia.
This collection includes:
• Hong Kong Government One Dollar note, dated 1 July 1955, featuring Queen Elizabeth II
• Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) issues, including:
– One $10 note dated 1964
– Multiple $5 notes with differing serial numbers and printings, 1950s–1960s
• Chinese wartime occupation currency, including a 10 Yuan note issued by the United Reserve Bank of China during the Japanese occupation (WWII era), featuring Guan Yu
• Republic of China (Nationalist) banknotes from the 1930s–1940s, including issues from the Central Bank of China and the Central Agricultural Bank, featuring Chiang Kai-shek
