This is a vintage Texaco Gasoline Filling Station sign, likely dating from the mid-20th century, a classic piece of American automobilia. The sign is crafted from tin, featuring the iconic Texaco star logo in red and black against a cream background, with "TEXACO" and "MOTOR OILS" prominently displayed. The outer ring is a vibrant red with "GASOLINE" and "FILLING STATION" in black lettering, along with "REG. U.S. PAT. OFF." at the bottom. The sign measures approximately 11.5 inches in diameter, a common size for smaller service station or pump signs. Texaco, established in 1901, became a household name for its distinctive star logo and widespread filling stations, particularly prominent across the American West, including Colorado, making this a desirable collectible for local enthusiasts. This piece would have been used to identify Texaco service stations or gasoline pumps, signifying a bygone era of road travel and automotive service. Expert observation suggests this is an authentic vintage piece due to the specific color palette, font styles, and construction methods consistent with Texaco signs from the period, rather than a modern reproduction. The reverse side shows the typical dark gray finish of a tin sign. Overall condition is Very Good. The sign exhibits honest wear consistent with its age and outdoor use, including some minor surface scratches, a few small chips to the paint primarily around the edges and mounting holes, and some expected patina to the metal. The colors remain bright and the gloss is largely intact, with no significant fading or structural damage. There are no major dents or bends, and the sign presents very well for display.
