Description:

  • A signed Tonalá burnished pottery figure, depicting a stylized horse (or dog-like animal).
  • Made in Tonalá, Jalisco, Mexico, famous for its decorative “flor de Tonalá” pottery.
  • Signed “J Lene / Mexico” — this is a recognized Tonalá artisan’s mark (Sometimes read as Lene or Selene)
  • Hand-painted floral and leaf motifs in traditional Tonalá style, with earthy reds, greens, and blacks.
  • Barro bruñido (burnished clay), polished to a sheen rather than glazed.
  • Horse/dog like figure with elongated body,  small legs and upright neck — less common than the typical doves or owls, making it more collectible.
  • Substantial size around 13.5 inch long x 8 inch tall
