1798 Dutch Anatomical Engraving with Text-
Original Copperplate engraving of Heart and Cardiac Structures, Plate 106 ('106e Plt"), accompanied by its original explanatory text sheet headed "Verklaring der Plaat".
From an 18th Century Anatomical Atlas (likely Ontleedkundige Tafelen (Anatomical & Surgical Tales),or a related medical folio, published in Amsterdam/Leiden, circa 1798. Likely is either a medical atlas derived from the works of Dutch Physician Petrus Camper (1172-1789), or another contemporary anatomist influenced by his work.
The number of the plate indicates it is from a multi-volume atlas with extensive coverage vs a short pamphlet.
Rare for both to be preserved together and also includes handwritten historical notes.
Surviving examples from a major Enlightenment Era Medical Atlas housed in museum and library historical medical collections, will show exactly this layout.
Handwritten blue notes attached to the prints provide additional context, history and provenance.
