Description:

Van Briggle Pottery conch shell planter/vase, a striking example of their Art Nouveau–inspired forms.

Key Details:

  • Maker: Van Briggle Pottery, Colorado Springs, CO.

  • Mark: Incised AA (for Artus & Anne Van Briggle), with “Van Briggle Colo Spgs” and date code.

  • Form: Large conch shell shape, deeply modeled with ridged spiral tail and scalloped lip.

  • Glaze: Soft matte turquoise-to-aqua blue — one of Van Briggle’s signature glazes.

  • Size: 17" long × 6" high (large, impressive size).

  • Era: This form was made across multiple decades. Based on the incised mark style, yours looks like mid-20th century (1950s–1970s) production.

These large Van Briggle shells are highly collectible, especially in turquoise matte glaze.
