Description:

This compact mid century modern open bookcase presents the clean, functional lines characteristic of American furniture production from the late 1950s through 1960s. Constructed with walnut-veneered panels over a solid wood core, the piece features a warm medium-brown finish with subtle wood grain visible across the flat top surface. The unit offers two open shelving bays divided by a fixed center shelf, with a distinctive recessed base rail finished in a contrasting lighter natural wood tone, elevated on four small cylindrical brass-tipped feet — a hallmark detail of mid century American case goods. Estimated dimensions are approximately 36 inches wide, 30 inches tall, and 16 inches deep, making it an ideal low bookcase, media console, or nightstand-scale storage unit. The design aesthetic is consistent with manufacturers such as Drexel, Bassett, or similar mid-tier American furniture producers of the era who produced walnut veneer case goods in volume for the residential market. No visible maker's label or stamp was identified in the available photos, though the brass foot caps and recessed base molding are period-correct construction details. Condition is rated Good overall: the top surface shows light surface scratches and minor wear consistent with decades of use, the bottom shelf floor displays more pronounced scratching and scuff marks, and the veneer appears intact with no lifting or bubbling observed. The piece is structurally sound with no visible wobble, missing parts, or repairs noted, and all shelving appears level and stable.
