Description:

A rare and historically significant vintage wooden longbow manufactured by Fleetwood Archery Co. of Denver, Colorado, a local Colorado maker that holds special appeal for regional collectors and archery history enthusiasts. The bow is clearly stamped on the riser with the maker's mark reading 'Fleetwood Archery Co., Denver, Colo.' accompanied by a decorative arrow graphic, confirming its Colorado provenance and making it a genuine piece of Denver sporting goods history. The bow appears to be a traditional flat-limb longbow or early recurve-style design constructed from laminated wood, featuring a naturally shaped riser section with visible wood grain laminations and a black string still in place running the length of the bow. The limbs taper gracefully from the wide riser to slender tips, with one tip capped in a distinctive orange/red tip marker, and the overall length is estimated at approximately 60-65 inches based on photographic scale. Fleetwood Archery was a mid-20th century Denver-based archery manufacturer and retailer that served Colorado's active hunting and sport archery community during the post-WWII archery boom of the 1950s-1960s, making examples of their work increasingly scarce and collectible. Condition is rated Fair to Good: the bow shows significant age-related wear including surface checking, splitting, and delamination visible at the riser/handle section, with the wood showing cracks and separation consistent with decades of storage and drying; the string appears intact but should be considered decorative only. The bow is presented as a display and collector piece rather than a functional shooting bow given the structural condition of the riser, and would make an outstanding display piece for Colorado archery history or Denver sporting goods collections.
