Description:

This striking large-format print depicts a dramatically rendered Native American warrior on horseback under a crescent moon against a deep cobalt blue night sky, signed and copyright dated 'Hood © 80' directly within the composition in the artist's distinctive feather-styled signature mark. The central figure is rendered with extraordinary detail — a fully regalia-adorned warrior and horse in motion, featuring flowing fringe, eagle feathers, a ceremonial lance with feather adornments, beaded breastplate with cross motifs, and a painted war horse with spotted markings — all surrounded by dark silhouetted riders and ravens in the background, creating a powerful sense of spiritual ceremony and movement. The foreground features a cracked, arid desert earth rendered in warm terracotta tones, strongly evoking the Southwestern and Plains landscape tradition highly collectible in the Colorado and Rocky Mountain art market. The composition employs a flat graphic style reminiscent of the mid-20th century Native American fine art movement, with bold outlines, stylized forms, and a limited but vivid palette of deep blue, red, gold, and earth tones that give the work a ceremonial, almost visionary quality. The print appears to be a limited edition lithograph or serigraph, professionally double-matted in white and gold with a gold-toned metal frame, with what appears to be a pencil signature and edition number visible in the lower left margin. The overall framed dimensions are approximately 24 x 30 inches, with the image area measuring roughly 18 x 24 inches. Condition is rated Very Good overall; the print itself shows no visible tears, foxing, or major fading, though there is minor surface dust and slight reflective glare from the glazing visible in photos; the gold frame shows light wear consistent with age but remains structurally sound with no breaks or losses. A compelling and decorative piece of Western and Native American-themed art from 1980, well-suited for Colorado collectors of Southwestern and Plains Indian imagery.
