Description:

This is a high-quality facsimile reproduction of the original Bill of Rights, issued in commemoration of the 200th Anniversary of the Bill of Rights (1791-1991) by Philip Morris Companies Inc. in cooperation with the National Archives. The document faithfully reproduces the full text of the original 1789 Congressional resolution proposing twelve articles of amendment to the U.S. Constitution, rendered in period-accurate script on aged parchment-toned paper with all twelve articles visible, bearing the facsimile signatures of Frederick Augustus Muhlenberg (Speaker of the House), John Adams (Vice President), John Beckley (Clerk of the House), and Sam A. Otis (Secretary of the Senate). The reproduction includes explanatory notes at the bottom detailing the historical context of the document's ratification on December 15, 1791. The piece is presented in a wood frame with gold inner liner, approximately 16x20 inches overall, with glass front protecting the document. Philip Morris partnered with the National Archives in the early 1990s to distribute these high-fidelity facsimiles as part of a major national civic awareness campaign, making this a collectible piece of both American historical memorabilia and corporate Americana history. Condition is Good to Very Good overall; the wood frame shows light surface scratches and minor scuffs along the lower rail, the glass has some dust and minor smudging, and the document itself displays light toning consistent with the aged parchment aesthetic — no tears, folds, or significant damage to the print are observed. A handsome display piece for a home office, law office, or patriotic decor collection.
