Description:

This is a Complete 2005 Buffalo Coin Set presented in a hard plastic display case featuring eight buffalo/bison-themed coins from 2005. The set includes four variations of the 2005 Jefferson Nickel American Bison reverse design — the standard uncirculated nickel, a gold-plated version, a holographic/prismatic iridescent version displaying vivid blue-purple rainbow tones, and a colorized version featuring a painted bison in natural tones against a blue sky background. The bottom row mirrors this same four-treatment format for the 2005 Kansas State Quarter (commemorating Kansas statehood 1861), which also features a bison reverse design, making this set a thematic double-feature of America's iconic Great Plains symbol. The 2005 Jefferson Nickel bison reverse was designed by Jamie Franki and is part of the Westward Journey Nickel Series, celebrating the Lewis and Clark Expedition bicentennial — a design highly popular with Western and Plains states collectors including those in Colorado. The gold-plated and holographic treatments were applied by private mints after striking and are popular novelty collectibles. The display card features a photographic background of bison in a winter landscape, enclosed in a clear acrylic snap-case approximately 5x3.5 inches. Condition is Very Good to Excellent overall; the plastic case shows minor surface scuffs, the display card interior appears clean with minimal yellowing, and all eight coins appear bright and well-preserved within their individual die-cut holders with no visible corrosion or damage.
