Description:
This lot features the rare and highly collectible LEGO Set 900 Battery Motor, produced in the early-to-mid 1970s as part of LEGO's original motorized building system. The Set 900 was a standalone battery-powered motor unit designed to integrate with classic LEGO building sets, requiring 3 C-type batteries, and represents one of LEGO's earliest forays into motorized play — a significant milestone in the brand's history that predates the modern Technic and Power Functions lines. The original box is present and displays the iconic blue-gradient 1970s LEGO graphic design with the tracked vehicle build shown on the front, and the interior styrofoam tray insert appears intact with several original Set 900 components including the black motor baseplate, red wheel hubs, clear and gray plates, and wiring elements still seated in their molded compartments. Accompanying the boxed motor set is a large cardboard box filled with a substantial quantity of classic vintage LEGO bricks predominantly in red, white, blue, and gray, including multiple large baseplates (blue, white, and gray), standard 2x4 and 2x2 bricks, specialty pieces, and what appears to be partial builds — consistent with 1970s-era LEGO production based on stud style and color palette. The vintage LEGO logo sticker/card is visible inside the motor box, adding to the period-correct authenticity of this lot. Condition of the Set 900 box is Good — showing edge wear, surface scuffing, and creasing consistent with 50+ years of storage, but graphics remain largely legible and intact; the styrofoam insert shows some compression and minor breakage at edges. The loose brick lot is in Good to Very Good condition overall with typical play wear; completeness of the Set 900 motor components cannot be fully verified from visual inspection and the motor's functionality is untested. This is an exceptional find for vintage LEGO collectors, toy historians, and Denver-area estate sale enthusiasts seeking rare 1970s LEGO memorabilia.
