This charming collection of five vintage porcelain and bisque ceramic figurines spans several mid-20th century decorative styles popular from the 1940s through 1960s, likely of Japanese manufacture as was common for imported decorative figurines of this era sold through American five-and-dime and gift shops. The grouping includes: a seated Colonial-style lady in a blue and white gown on a gilt-accented chair; a seated Colonial gentleman in blue coat playing a flute on a matching chair; a standing country girl in yellow bonnet and pink skirt carrying a basket of grapes; a Southern Belle-style doll figurine in a powder blue ball gown with gold floral accents and ruffled bonnet; and a Hummel-style boy in lederhosen playing a mandolin/lute. Construction varies across the lot — the Colonial pair features hand-applied underglaze blue decoration with gold chair accents typical of mid-century Japanese bisque imports, while the Belle figure displays a glossy glaze with applied gold floral detailing, and the lederhosen boy exhibits the rounder, cartoonish style reminiscent of Hummel-inspired Japanese ceramics. Figurines range in estimated height from approximately 4 to 6 inches tall. Condition is overall Good to Fair for the group: the Colonial pair shows notable gold loss and paint wear to the chair backs, scattered crazing, and surface soiling; the grape-basket girl shows minor paint wear; the Belle figurine displays significant gold loss and wear to the bonnet and skirt; the lederhosen boy appears in the best condition with bright colors and no visible chips noted. All five pieces appear structurally intact with no observed breaks or repairs, though some pieces show age-related crazing and paint oxidation consistent with 60-70 years of display use. A delightful decorative lot for collectors of mid-century cottage decor, shelf figurines, or Japanese import ceramics.
