Antique Biedermeier Secretary Desk Chest – Drop-Front Writing Desk w/ Drawers, Solid Wood, Ornate Antique Cabinet

Stunning antique Biedermeier desk, circa 1840 - 1850 with accompanying Biedermeier book. Approximately 50" wide, 63" tall, 25.75" deep. It has secret drawers, mahogany veneer, fruit wood inlay, and brass accents. There are a few pieces of trim missing. We have tried to show this in the photos. It is in good shape and sturdy for being about 150 years old! 

This piece has marble on top that is attached, making it extremely heavy. It will take more than two people to move.

Biedermeier refers to an influential German and Austrian furniture design and cultural period that spanned from approximately 1815 to 1848. This style emerged as a response to the opulent French Empire style, prioritizing simplicity, functionality, and comfort for the rising middle class. This piece was valued at around $5000 in 2001 and comes with a letter from a prestigious antiques firm.
