Description:
This impressive collection lot features genuine Monarch Crystal pieces made in West Germany, as confirmed by the original black and gold foil label visible on one of the cut glass bowls. The lot includes approximately five to six pieces: a vintage glass table lamp with a molded glass globe shade featuring oval and petal relief motifs on a brass floral base with hanging crystal prisms, two to three ornate cut crystal compotes or pedestal bowls with star and fan patterns mounted on heavily cast brass/bronze-tone Rococo-style bases adorned with dangling iridescent aurora borealis crystal prisms, and at least one additional cut glass bowl. The Monarch Crystal brand was a respected West German crystal manufacturer producing high-lead crystal goods during the postwar era through the 1980s, known for brilliant clarity and precise cutting. The cut glass patterns display classic hobstar, fan, and sunburst motifs consistent with American Brilliant-style influenced European production of the mid-20th century. The ornate cast metal bases feature scrolling acanthus leaf and floral Baroque-revival detailing typical of Hollywood Regency decor popular from the 1950s through 1970s. Condition is overall Good to Very Good; the lamp shade shows some light yellowing/patina to the glass consistent with age, the metal bases show tarnish and oxidation, several prisms appear present though completeness cannot be fully verified, and the original Monarch Crystal label shows edge wear and partial peeling. The lamp cord and plug are present. Some light surface scratches to the cut glass pieces are expected with age and use.
