Description:
This is a Howard Miller tambour-style mantel clock housed in a warm honey-oak hardwood case featuring a classic arched top with gracefully curved corbel supports flanking the base, decorative beaded molding along the plinth, and a rich hand-rubbed finish that showcases the prominent oak grain throughout. The dial face is white with bold black Roman numerals, ornate black spade-style hands, and delicate decorative flourish motifs between each hour marker, all framed by a polished brass bezel ring. Howard Miller, founded in 1926 in Zeeland, Michigan, is one of America's most respected clock manufacturers, known for producing heirloom-quality timepieces with traditional styling and reliable mechanical movements; this example dates most likely to the 1970s–1990s based on case construction and dial design. The clock features a three-winding-hole mechanical movement (time, strike, and chime functions indicated by the three winding arbors visible on the dial face), consistent with a Westminster or similar chime movement. The rear access panel is secured with a small ring-pull latch and hinged hardware, allowing easy access to the movement for winding and regulation. The case measures approximately 20 inches wide by 13 inches tall and 8 inches deep. Condition is rated Good overall: the white dial face shows visible crazing, surface cracking, and scuff marks across the painted surface, which is the most notable cosmetic flaw; the oak case displays light surface scratches and minor finish wear consistent with age and use, but retains strong structural integrity with no cracks or repairs observed; the brass bezel shows light tarnish; functionality of the movement was not tested and is sold as-is.
