This lot features a vintage cast iron or heavy steel floor safe/strongbox, estimated to measure approximately 12 inches wide by 8 inches deep by 7 inches tall, constructed with thick-walled metal walls typical of mid-20th century security boxes designed for floor or in-ground installation. The box features a hinged lid with a key lock mechanism — notably, the key cylinder hardware is present inside the box (stored in a small zip-lock bag as shown in the interior photos), but no key is included with this lot, as noted by the handwritten label affixed to the lid. The interior reveals a divided compartment layout with a raised inner tray/divider, and two interior bolt pins visible on the underside of the lid indicating a functional locking bolt system. The exterior top lid features a centered circular keyhole opening and rounded corners with a raised lip edge, consistent with American-made security boxes produced from the 1940s through 1970s. Condition is rated Fair to Good for its age: the exterior shows heavy surface scratching, paint loss revealing bare metal beneath, rust spotting and oxidation throughout, and general patina consistent with decades of use and storage; structurally the box appears solid and intact with no visible cracks or deformation. The locking mechanism components are included inside but a locksmith or replacement key would be required to restore full locking functionality. A great project piece, shop safe, or display item for collectors of vintage security hardware and industrial antiques.
