Description:

This impressive lot features a large antique brass coal bucket or jardiniere planter as the centerpiece, distinguished by its bold cast brass lion head ring handles on opposing sides, ornate acanthus-leaf and shell-form cabriole legs terminating in claw-and-ball feet, and a hammered cylindrical body — hallmarks of Victorian and Edwardian English brass craftsmanship dating to the late 19th to early 20th century. The bucket itself measures approximately 12 inches in diameter and 12 inches in height, constructed of heavy-gauge hammered brass with applied decorative mounts, consistent with period English fireplace accessories used as coal scuttles or log holders. Included within the bucket is a substantial collection of antique and vintage brass, bronze, and silver-plate hardware and decorative items, including multiple candlestick holders in varying sizes and styles, ornate repoussé urn or lamp base fragments with scrolling acanthus decoration, silver-plate napkin rings with gadrooned borders, decorative box fragments, and miscellaneous architectural hardware — representing a treasure trove for collectors, restorers, and decorators. The contents appear to span the Victorian through mid-20th century periods, with several pieces showing quality casting and silverplate work consistent with English and Continental manufacture. Condition of the brass bucket is Fair to Good, showing heavy patina, verdigris oxidation throughout, surface pitting, paint drips or lacquer residue streaking the body, and general honest wear consistent with age and use; structurally the bucket is sound with all feet and handles intact. The contents range from Good to Fair condition with expected tarnish, patina, and minor losses across the various pieces. An exceptional lot for the Denver-area collector, estate picker, or antique dealer seeking Victorian brass, candlestick holders, and decorative metalware.
