Offered is a pair of vintage Scottish one-pound banknotes, issued by two historic Scottish institutions: Clydesdale Bank Limited and The Royal Bank of Scotland Limited. These notes date to the mid-20th century, prior to the United Kingdom’s conversion to decimal currency in 1971.
Unlike English notes, Scottish paper money has traditionally been issued by individual commercial banks, and both examples represent authentic circulating currency used throughout Scotland. The designs feature distinctive portrait and heraldic imagery unique to Scottish issues.
Condition is circulated, with visible folds, creases, edge wear, toning, and handling wear consistent with age and use. No cleaning or restoration has been attempted.
This is a desirable collector or study pairing, well suited for collectors of British and Scottish currency, pre-decimal money, or regional banknote issues.
Sold as a single lot.
