This is a hand-colored 1866 wood engraving titled Street View in Santa Fe. Based on a sketch by Theodore R. Davis, it was originally published in Harper's Weekly. This appears to be that page out of Harper's Weekly, as one can see the typeface coming through from the other side of the page but it is sealed in the frame and cannot be studied further. The illustration captures the historic Santa Fe Plaza, looking toward the original La Parroquia church—the predecessor to the St. Francis Cathedral. The structure on the right with the covered portal is the original La Fonda Hotel.
