Japanese ukiyo-e style woodblock print depicting a kabuki actor standing within an interior setting, framed by vertical window panels overlooking a waterside landscape with boats and birds in the distance. The figure wears a patterned robe and holds a folded cloth, rendered with the stylized facial features and dramatic pose characteristic of kabuki actor portrait prints.
The work is after Utagawa Toyokuni III (also known as Utagawa Kunisada, 1786–1865), one of the most prolific and celebrated artists of the Edo period and a leading figure of the Utagawa school. Kunisada was widely recognized for his theatrical actor portraits and scenes from kabuki performances.
A red title cartouche and traditional publisher seals appear near the lower portion of the image, consistent with Japanese woodblock prints of the Edo period. The print is presented in a black frame with matting and is ready for display.
