Description:

This offering features a vintage Benjamin Franklin pump-action air rifle, proudly marked "Made in U.S.A." on the barrel. The rifle features a classic design with a dark blued metal barrel and receiver, contrasted by a wooden stock and forend. The overall length appears to be approximately 36-40 inches, consistent with typical air rifle dimensions of the era. Benjamin Franklin air rifles, produced by the Benjamin Air Rifle Company, were known for their robust construction and reliability, often serving as a first rifle for many enthusiasts. This particular model likely dates from the mid-20th century, a period when American-made airguns were highly regarded for their craftsmanship and performance. The company has a rich history, evolving into what is now part of Crosman Corporation, but these earlier models are sought after by collectors and enthusiasts for their historical significance and build quality. The rifle features a simple, yet effective, pump-action mechanism for charging the air chamber and a trigger assembly. Expert observation confirms the "BENJAMIN FRANKLIN" stamp is clear and legible, indicating authenticity.

Condition Report: Fair. The air rifle shows significant signs of age and use. The wooden stock and forend exhibit considerable wear, with areas of finish loss, scuffs, and what appears to be dried residue or paint splatter, particularly on the buttstock. The metal components, including the barrel and receiver, show surface wear, scratches, and some loss of the blued finish, consistent with prolonged use and handling. There is visible surface rust and pitting in various areas on the metal. The functionality of the pump action and trigger mechanism cannot be guaranteed without further testing, and it is sold as-is. This piece would benefit from a thorough cleaning and potential restoration to bring it back to its original aesthetic.
