Description:

This is a finely hand-knotted Pakistani Bokhara-style wool area rug, estimated at approximately 4 x 6 feet, featuring the classic all-over 'gul' (flower/medallion) repeat pattern on a deep black ground — a distinctive variation of the traditional red-ground Bokhara that commands strong collector interest. The field is densely filled with rows of octagonal Tekke-style gul medallions rendered in dusty rose, ivory, teal, gold, and burgundy, separated by small diamond accent motifs in teal and cream, all set against the rich near-black navy ground. Multiple stacked border bands frame the field, including a prominent lattice/diamond outer border and intricate geometric minor borders in complementary tones of mauve, ivory, and teal, with knotted cotton fringe on both ends in good condition. Pakistani Bokhara rugs, produced primarily in the Lahore and Karachi weaving centers from the mid-20th century onward, are celebrated for their exceptionally fine knot counts, lustrous hand-spun wool pile, and faithful reproduction of Central Asian Turkmen tribal designs — making them highly sought after by collectors and interior designers alike, particularly in the Colorado and Mountain West market where tribal and global textile traditions are widely appreciated. The pile appears medium-height with a dense, even surface and good luster consistent with quality wool construction, and the cotton warp fringe is intact and relatively even on both ends. Condition is rated Very Good: the pile shows light overall wear consistent with use and age, with no significant bare spots, holes, or repairs visible; colors remain vibrant and well-saturated; fringe shows minor tangling but is largely complete; edges appear stable with no significant unraveling. A professional cleaning is recommended prior to display to fully restore the depth of color.
