This impressive collection of handwoven baskets includes approximately 8 or more individual pieces spanning multiple weaving traditions and styles. The standout piece is a Nantucket-style lidded basket featuring tightly woven rattan construction, a polished hardwood oval lid with a carved bone or ivory-style toggle closure, and wooden peg handles — hallmarks of the classic Nantucket lightship basket tradition originating in 19th-century New England. Also included is a large wicker picnic basket with a double-arched handle and decorative red/pink dyed reed banding, an elongated African-style woven tray basket with brown and natural stripe patterning, a coiled sweetgrass oval tray with a decorative honeycomb center medallion, a pine needle coiled oval basket with intricate sunburst/rosette appliqué work consistent with Southwestern or Latin American folk craft traditions, a small woven lidded round basket, a decorative handled tote with sunburst medallion panels, and a smaller open oval basket. Materials across the collection include rattan, wicker, sweetgrass, pine needle, and natural reed fibers. Condition is overall Good to Very Good; the collection shows honest use-related wear including minor fraying on some reed ends, light dust and patina consistent with age, and some loosening of weave on the smaller decorative pieces. The Nantucket-style basket is in the best condition with tight, intact weave and functional toggle closure. This is an excellent decorating or collector lot perfect for farmhouse, bohemian, or Southwestern Colorado home décor.
