Description:

This is a classic Ingento No. 2 guillotine-style paper trimmer/cutter, manufactured by the Ingento division of Ideal School Supply Company, a highly regarded American maker of professional-grade paper cutting equipment dating back to the early 20th century. The unit features a solid maple hardwood base approximately 15x15 inches with a distinctive scored grid pattern etched into the surface for precise alignment, raised on four small wooden block feet, and finished in a warm honey-amber lacquer. The heavy cast iron arm/handle is embossed with 'INGENTO NO. 2' in raised lettering within a cartouche on the handle, and retains much of its original gold/bronze paint alongside natural patina, indicating authentic age and use. A brass-toned metal ruler/guide rail runs along the top edge with clearly legible inch markings, and a red-accented tension spring mechanism is intact and functional. The blade assembly is secured with original hardware screws to the right side of the board. Ingento paper trimmers from the mid-20th century are highly collectible among vintage office equipment enthusiasts, crafters, photographers, and industrial antique collectors. Condition is rated Good to Very Good: the wooden base shows light surface scratches, minor scuffs, and age-appropriate patina to the finish, with no cracks or warping noted; the cast iron arm shows expected surface oxidation and paint wear consistent with decades of use; the ruler markings remain legible; blade sharpness is not verified and should be tested before use — exercise caution as blade may be sharp.
