Description:

This is a framed reproduction print of John James Audubon's iconic 'Red-shouldered Hawk' (Falco lineatus), one of the most celebrated plates from Audubon's monumental 'Birds of America' series. The print depicts two Red-shouldered Hawks perched on oak branches draped with Spanish moss — one hawk alert and forward-facing with wings folded, the other with wings partially spread — rendered in rich earth tones of russet brown, black, white, and slate blue-gray with exceptional ornithological detail. The caption at the bottom reads 'Red-shouldered Hawk / FALCO LINEATUS, Gmel.' in elegant script, consistent with period reproduction editions published by various fine art publishers throughout the mid-to-late 20th century. The print is professionally matted with a cream linen-textured mat accented by a thin gold fillet inner border, and housed in a warm honey-toned wood frame, estimated overall dimensions approximately 16x20 inches. Audubon reproductions of this quality are highly sought by naturalist art collectors, wildlife enthusiasts, and interior decorators seeking classic American ornithological wall art — particularly popular in Colorado and Western mountain lodge aesthetics. Condition is Very Good overall; the print displays vibrant, unfaded color with no visible foxing, tears, or water damage visible from the front; the frame shows minor light wear to corners consistent with age and handling; glass is intact and clean.
