This is a hand-painted Egyptian papyrus artwork depicting the classic 'Fowling in the Marshes' scene, one of the most iconic compositions in ancient Egyptian art, famously derived from New Kingdom tomb paintings such as those found in the Tomb of Nebamun (c. 1350 BCE). The scene portrays two noblemen standing in papyrus reed boats on the Nile, each wielding a throwing stick while accompanied by family members and attendants, with a spectacular flock of birds rising above a dense thicket of papyrus plants. Fish are visible in the stylized blue-green water below, and the upper register features a detailed geometric border with cartouche-style hieroglyphic columns flanking the central scene. The painting is executed in traditional mineral-based pigments including turquoise, terracotta red, cobalt blue, gold, and black on genuine hand-pressed papyrus reed paper with characteristic natural deckled edges. The papyrus sheet measures approximately 16 by 12 inches and is presented in a gold-tone metal frame with white mat, bringing the overall framed dimensions to approximately 20 by 16 inches. A signature in Arabic script is visible in the lower right corner of the papyrus, consistent with contemporary Egyptian artisan workshop production, likely originating from Cairo's Khan el-Khalili market district or a Luxor studio, dating to the late 20th or early 21st century. Condition is Very Good overall; the papyrus displays minor natural toning and slight irregular staining toward the upper left corner consistent with the natural reed material, colors remain vivid and unfaded, the frame is intact with no damage noted, and the piece is ready to hang as displayed.
