Description:

This charming vintage cast iron sleeping cat figurine depicts a curled feline in a classic resting pose with head tucked down and tail wrapped around the body, measuring approximately 10 inches in length and 7 inches wide. The piece is cast from solid iron and finished in a dark charcoal-black paint with a distinctive crackle texture across the entire surface, giving it a weathered, aged appearance consistent with mid-to-late 20th century decorative cast iron production. Cast iron animal figurines of this style were popular as both indoor decorative accents and garden ornaments throughout the 1960s–1990s, with sleeping cat forms being among the most collectible due to their universal appeal and sculptural simplicity. The modeling is competent and naturalistic, with well-defined paw, ear, and facial features that suggest a quality casting mold; close inspection of the ear area reveals traces of verdigris green oxidation, confirming genuine iron construction rather than resin or composite. No maker's mark or foundry stamp is visible in the photographs, which is common for mass-produced decorative cast iron of this era. Condition is rated Good to Fair: the crackle finish shows widespread surface crazing, scattered paint loss exposing raw iron at multiple points across the back and sides, light rust spotting, and general wear consistent with outdoor or garage use over several decades; structurally the piece is solid with no cracks or breaks noted. This piece would appeal to cat collectors, farmhouse décor enthusiasts, Colorado garden decorators, and cast iron figurine collectors alike.
