Description:

This is a charming original oil on canvas still life painting depicting an exuberant bouquet of orange, red, and yellow roses and mixed blooms arranged in a rounded olive-green ceramic vase set against a warm neutral ochre and grey background. The composition is executed with confident, loose brushwork characteristic of mid-20th century decorative oil painting traditions, with impasto texture visible throughout the floral elements and a skillful use of chiaroscuro lighting that illuminates the vase with a bright highlight and casts the background into warm shadow. The canvas appears to measure approximately 9x12 inches, housed in a multi-profile gold-toned wood frame with a linen fabric liner, bringing the overall framed dimensions to approximately 14x17 inches. The painting bears what appears to be a handwritten artist signature in the lower right corner reading 'Rex' or similar, consistent with mid-century amateur to semi-professional decorative painters who produced work in this popular floral still life genre during the 1960s-1980s. The warm autumnal color palette of burnt orange, golden yellow, and deep olive green would complement traditional, transitional, or rustic Colorado mountain home interiors beautifully. Condition is Very Good overall; the canvas shows no visible tears, punctures, or significant inpainting, with minor surface dust and light age-related toning to the varnish layer consistent with its age. The frame displays light wear and minor scuffs to the gilded finish at the corners but remains structurally sound and intact with the linen liner in good condition.
