Description:

An exceptional collection of 40+ vintage and antique books spanning multiple genres and eras, representing a true bibliophile's estate lot. Identifiable titles include John Bartlett's 'Familiar Quotations' (fourteenth edition, blue hardcover), Joyce Kilmer's 'Anthology of Catholic Poets' (green hardcover), 'The Psychopathic God: Adolf Hitler' by Robert G.L. Waite, '30,000 Years of Art' (large format art history volume), Daniel Defoe's 'Robinson Crusoe' (decorative gilt cover edition), Scott's 'Ivanhoe' (Atlas Series, green hardcover), 'The Raggedy Animal Book' illustrated by Harrison Cady, 'A.B.C. Primer and Story Book' (vintage orange cover), 'The Picture Story Book of Peter Pan,' and 'Four Little Kittens,' among many others including what appears to be children's classics, Junior Color Classics series volumes, and additional hardcovers. The collection spans roughly the 1920s through the 1980s, with the antique children's books and illustrated volumes being of particular collector interest — Harrison Cady's illustrations for the Raggedy Animal Book are especially notable as Cady was the celebrated illustrator of Thornton Burgess stories. Condition varies across the lot from Good to Fair overall; the children's books show the most wear with worn spines, edge rubbing, and age toning to pages, while the mid-century hardcovers are generally in better shape with intact bindings. Some volumes show pencil markings, previous owner inscriptions, or price stickers. The large art history volume appears to be in Very Good condition with minimal wear. This lot presents an outstanding opportunity for resellers, used book dealers, prop stylists, or collectors seeking vintage reading material and decorative shelf books.
