Description:
This substantial vintage silverplate flatware service is presented in its original wood storage chest lined with deep magenta/burgundy anti-tarnish felt, bearing a visible Rogers Community label on the interior. The set appears to contain 60 or more pieces including approximately 12 dinner knives with elegant elongated handles featuring embossed floral and reed motifs, multiple sets of dinner forks and salad forks, teaspoons, tablespoons, and an impressive array of serving pieces including a large ladle, pierced serving spoon/tomato server, cold meat fork, sugar spoon, and additional serving utensils. The handle pattern displays classic mid-century design characteristics with delicate floral bouquet embossing at the terminal and refined reed detailing along the shank, consistent with Rogers Community patterns from the late 1940s through 1960s such as Coronation, Lasting Spring, or a similar floral series. Rogers Community Ltd., founded in upstate New York, was one of America's premier silverplate manufacturers and their mid-century patterns remain highly collectible for both everyday use and display. The wooden storage chest features a hinged lid with satin-lined knife slots in the upper compartment and felt-divided lower tray for serving pieces, with an 'Approved Anti-Tarnish' label still affixed to the lower right corner. Condition is rated Good to Very Good overall; the silverplate shows expected light tarnish and minor surface wear consistent with age and storage, the ladle exhibits heavier tarnish/darkening to the bowl, and a few pieces show light spotting, but the majority of pieces retain good silver luster and would polish up nicely; the wood chest shows light wear to the exterior corners and edges but remains structurally sound with intact felt lining.
