Description:
This handsome oak storage trunk features a cedar-lined interior with an upholstered top, combining practical storage with functional seating. Constructed of oak veneer over solid wood with a warm honey-golden finish, the piece showcases a classic trunk design with a hinged lid fitted with a padded upholstered cushion in a neutral beige/gray woven fabric. The raised oak gallery rail frames the cushioned top on three sides, making it ideal as an end-of-bed bench, entryway seating, or blanket storage. The front facade displays two decorative raised panels, and the base features a shaped apron with a gentle scalloped profile, adding refined decorative touches typical of Colonial Revival furniture. Ornate antiqued brass bail-and-escutcheon pulls in a decorative floral/crown motif are present on the front panels. The interior is lined with aromatic cedar, providing natural protection for stored textiles, linens, and seasonal items. Estimated dimensions are approximately 48 inches wide by 18 inches deep by 20 inches tall. No visible maker's mark is apparent from the photos, though the construction quality and hardware style are consistent with American furniture manufacturers such as Broyhill, Bassett, or similar mid-market producers of the era. Condition is rated Very Good overall; the upholstered seat cushion shows light soiling and minor compression lines consistent with normal use, the oak surfaces display minor light scratches and scuffs consistent with age, and the brass hardware retains good luster with only minor tarnishing. The lid operates smoothly, joints appear tight, and no significant structural damage, repairs, or missing elements are observed.
