This is a Chinese export brass and cloisonne enamel lidded trinket box, likely dating to the mid-20th century Republican or early export era, stamped 'CHINA' on the base. The box features a scalloped, multi-lobed form with the exterior sides decorated with a series of raised relief brass panels set against a vivid cobalt blue cloisonne enamel ground, each panel depicting traditional Chinese figural scenes with robed figures engaged in daily or ceremonial activities, with Chinese characters visible between panels. The domed lid is equally ornate, featuring applied brass branch and leaf motifs, four red and green glass or hardstone cabochons set into silver-toned bezels, and a blue cloisonne enamel border of repeating geometric motifs around the rim; the lid is surmounted by a bright apple-green hardstone or glass ball finial with a brown center accent. The interior of the box is lined with a turquoise-blue enamel glaze, adding a rich contrast to the golden brass exterior, while the lid interior is unlined raw brass. The base rests on three small brass ball feet and bears a stamped 'CHINA' mark, consistent with mid-20th century export production. Estimated dimensions are approximately 5 inches in diameter and 3.5 inches tall with lid. Condition is rated Good to Very Good: the exterior enamel panels show minor wear and small losses consistent with age, the interior enamel lining displays notable crazing, bubbling, and some loss or flaking in areas, the brass surfaces show expected tarnish and light surface scratching throughout, and the lid interior shows verdigris spotting; the cabochons and finial appear intact and the lid seats properly on the base.
