Description:
This lot includes seven silver-tone metal alphabet block coin banks, each featuring embossed ABC letters and charming animal motifs across all six faces. Each cube-shaped bank measures approximately 2.5 to 3 inches per side and is constructed of cast or die-cast metal with a silver-plated or pewter-tone finish. The embossed decorations include a delightful variety of animals — cats, ducks, camels, birds, and more — alongside bold raised alphabet letters (A through E and beyond) and additional imagery such as a baby, butterfly, baseball, and sports equipment, suggesting these were designed as classic nursery keepsakes and gift items. Coin slot openings are visible on the top of each bank, confirming full functionality as savings banks. These types of silver-tone alphabet block banks were popular gift items from the 1970s through the 1990s, commonly given as christening, baptism, or baby shower gifts, and are highly collectible today as a group. Condition varies across the lot: two of the seven blocks show heavier tarnish and oxidation with some darkening to the recessed areas, while the remaining five range from Good to Very Good with light to moderate tarnish, minor surface scratches, and expected patina consistent with age and storage. All blocks appear structurally intact with no visible cracks or missing pieces. A wonderful decorative grouping or starter collection for nursery decor enthusiasts and vintage baby gift collectors.
