This Art Deco-style Lane cedar hope chest features striking bookmatched walnut veneer panels with a chevron/herringbone pattern on both the lid and front, accented by lighter satinwood-toned vertical banding. The chest displays a gracefully curved waterfall lid edge, decorative dentil molding along the lid seam, a central lock escutcheon, and bracket feet with carved bead detail — all hallmarks of late 1930s to 1940s American cedar chest production. Lane, a premier American manufacturer of quality cedar chests, produced this authenticated piece with exceptional craftsmanship. Condition is good overall with light surface scratches visible on the lid and minor scuffs to the base, consistent with age and use; the veneer appears intact without lifting or major losses. Interior features green felt-lined storage compartments and cedar-lined base.
