Large African-style djembe drum constructed from a carved wood shell with a rawhide drumhead secured by densely wrapped twisted rope tension cords in traditional fashion. The drum is substantial in size, approximately 24-28 inches tall, with a wide playing head roughly 18-20 inches in diameter, and rests on an included metal tripod stand with decorative claw feet. The lower wood shell retains heavily flaking black paint or finish with significant loss exposing raw wood beneath, and the rope tensioning shows fraying and wear at the lower lacing points. The rawhide head is intact and shows surface scratches, discoloration, and age-related patina consistent with use. Overall condition is well-worn and aged, best suited as a decorative or display piece rather than a primary performance instrument.
