Lot # 487 - 1800's Sterling Silver Dance Cards with Pencil and Pages Made of Ivory, plus MORE!
Dance Cards: Paper and pencils weren’t cheap back then, so this was a more "upper class" way to ration out the dances starting in the 18th century. We are offering 2 examples as an opulent reminder of just how grand these affairs could be. Both dance cards are sterling silver, and the pages are made of ivory.
Plus- Miniature Asian Bento box with 3 sections in Sterling ~ Sewing Capsule with Thimble in Sterling ~ Small Nail File in Pretty case Sterling ~ Darling Italian Hinged Trinket Box with Micro Mosaic Floral Design probably made from tin.
Disclaimer: This Ivory collection was owned by Hazel Hammer Humphrey (1881- 1972). Most pieces were acquired during her extensive travels in her early years. She was the only owner and as with everything else in the home/museum, the items were documented. We have contacted both the Federal and State Fish and Wildlife Service to make certain we are in compliance. We are however, only selling them in-state. Pick up only.- No Shipping available on this lot
