Monumental museum-quality reproduction of "La Sirène," the celebrated sculpture by renowned French sculptor Denys Puech (1854–1942).
Your sculpture is based on one of his best-known works, La Sirène (The Siren).
The original was first modeled in 1889 while Puech was studying in Rome after winning the Prix de Rome. It was exhibited at the Paris Salon and later acquired by the French government. Original versions exist in marble and bronze and are held in major museum collections, including the Musée d'Orsay in Paris and the Musée Denys-Puech.
Interestingly, unlike the traditional Greek myth in which a siren merely lures sailors to their doom, Puech depicted the siren physically carrying away a young man, making it one of the more dramatic and emotionally charged interpretations of the myth. Purchased by the current owners from Relics in Scottsdale, Arizona, this substantial reproduction features an aged bronze-style finish with beautifully weathered verdigris patina over a heavy cast body. The title "LA SIRENE" is molded into the base.
