Lot # 181 - Tall Antique Carved Wood Chinese Statue 19th Century 3ft Tall! This amazing carved statue is 37" tall and 18" at its widest. Top uses pegs to sit on the base. Dongfang Shuo was an official at the court of Han Emperor Wu, known for his quick wit and humorous quips. This statue shows him as an old bearded man running away from the garden of the Queen Mother of the West (seen below) with stolen peaches in hand, which are said to have the power to extend life.
